"Stephanie Sanchez negotiated the pants role of Prince Orlofsky with an easy panache. Ms. Sanchez possesses a ripe, throbbing, womanly mezzo, so it is no small feat that she was able to bend it into service to suggest a bored young male character. Her/his party piece, Chacun a son gout was craftily vocalized, but it was when she could really let her voice roll out that we were treated to a major talent."
This Fall, Ms. Sanchez will be joining the roster at Lyric Opera of Chicago for the Barrie Kosky production of The Magic Flute. She will be making house debuts with Austin Opera for a solo recital celebrating LatinX composers and El Paso Opera for Robert Xavier Rodriguez' Frida. Ms Sanchez also looks forward to a return to Opera San Jose and the release of a world premiere film with the Glimmerglass Festival.
Ms. Sanchez has performed everything from iconic trouser roles to florid bel canto roles to the juicy Germanic repertoire. Enjoy this clip from Opera Theatre of Saint Louis' New Years Eve Celebration!
